10 years

it was my first week of high school when i heard the news. my friend and i dipped out of school early and climbed up a fire escape onto the roof of this building in his neighborhood to try and catch a glimpse of what was happening. we could only see and smell clouds of smoke and hope for the best and that my dad made it home safe. it still scares me thinking about it. new york is a tough fuckin city though.
